This lens has received very little actual use, as evidenced by the lack of wear to its mount, and has clearly been exceptionally well cared-for when not in use. As far as I can determine, the lens is completely indistinguishable from new. Glass is perfect, with clean, clear optics throughout. Operationally, it is flawless. AF is accurate and quick, and the lens is very sharp, even wide open at f/2.8. Zoom and focus action are smooth and consistent throughout their ranges, as on a new lens. Tokina's 11-16mm f/2.8 wide-angle zoom knocked everybody's socks off when it appeared a few years ago because not only did it instantly become the sharpest wide-zoom available for DX-format camera bodies, it did so while also featuring an f/2.8 maximum aperture all the way across its zoom range. This was remarkable because in addition to being an exceptional wide zoom, it also works as a surrogate for the fast wide-angle primes that DX users have always wanted but that nobody has yet produced. This DX-II version is the successor to the original lens, featuring an in-body focus motor allowing it to retain full autofocus function when used with any Nikon DSLR body.
